Welcome to Brilliant Labs NL’s first Youtube Live session. What a busy six months we’ve had since Brilliant Labs came to Newfoundland. The challenges have been great but the results greater. We are funding or have funded a total of 47 projects to date. We have provided over 150 hours of Professional Learning to approximately 300 teachers.
Here at BL NL as we like to call it we are constantly doing new things and bringing it to classrooms in the province. We are hackers and makers by nature and it shows! In our first YouTube Live session we will show some of our hacks and demonstrate our desire to promote maker education.
We will demo a little of what we have learned the past 6 months and how we can combine skills and technology to deliver curricular goals. Our “soil moisture sensor” combines coding, Microbit sensing, and 3D design to produce a device that can be deployed in a garden or farming situation. We will also discuss our future plans to remotely collect data and map moisture levels in a field.
