Saint John, NB – Brilliant Labs, a 100% Canadian-based EdTech organization that both manufactures its own educational technology and delivers hands-on digital skills programming, is proud to announce it has been awarded $2 million through the Government of Canada’s CanCode 4.0 program. This investment will support Brilliant Labs’ mission to equip youth, educators, and communities with AI-driven learning, cybersecurity education, and real-world innovation tools.

CanCode 4.0, part of a $39.2 million federal initiative, is designed to provide 1.6 million training opportunities to youth and educators across Canada, with a focus on AI literacy, coding, and critical digital skills development. This funding will allow Brilliant Labs to expand its reach—particularly among underrepresented groups—ensuring that every young Canadian has access to essential technological tools and opportunities.

Brilliant Labs stands apart as Canada’s only EdTech organization that not only delivers programming but also manufactures its own learning technology. Designed and built in Atlantic Canada, its flagship innovation, the b.Board, is an AI-powered microcontroller that enables youth to create real-world tech solutions—from environmental monitoring to automation, robotics, and cybersecurity applications.

“For over a decade, Brilliant Labs has been committed to empowering youth, educators, and communities with the skills to innovate and lead in the digital age,” said Jeff Willson, Executive Director of Brilliant Labs. “This CanCode 4.0 funding allows us to deepen our work in AI and cybersecurity education, helping more young Canadians use technology to build sustainable, knowledge-based futures. We are incredibly grateful to CanCode and the Office of the Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry for their investment in our mission.”

Brilliant Labs invites educators, parents, and community members to stay connected as it rolls out after-school programs, summer camps, and teacher training opportunities across Atlantic Canada. To learn more or subscribe for updates, visit brilliantlabs.ca.
